The Jamaican High Commission and Jamaicans in the United Kingdom join with the worldwide community in expressing our condolences to his widow Gail and the family of the late Oliver Foot. We also share in the deep sense of loss which the entire ORBIS family is experiencing at this time.
His humanitarian and promotional work marked him out as a person of extraordinary skills and accomplishments, and for the difference he made to so many individual lives and organisations, we are most grateful.
But what endeared him most to those who knew him was his love of life, his love and respect for people and his remarkable ability to make them feel appreciated, valued and indeed cherished. He was prepared to overlook the human foibles and even the negative experiences and to treat each person as an individual of worth.
Of course, Jamaica and Jamaicans had a special place in his heart as he does and always will in ours. The warmth of his personality and his energetic engagement with programmes to enrich the lives of his fellow- human beings will remain with us as his permanent legacy.
We pray that the members of the family will in some measure be comforted by that legacy as well as by the rich memories of the time shared with him.
Requiescat in pace.Burchell Whiteman
